You know how boarding schools are, right? Early morning wake-up calls, strict schedules, and enough rules to make your head spin. But guess what? That discipline! It stuck with me like glue. As I waved goodbye to high school life, on 21st April 2021 I carried with me a backpack full of hard work, perseverance, and resilience – the kind of stuff that (I believe) becomes your secret sauce in the real world.
Some things etched in my memory include the early morning wake-up calls. And then there's "njera", our nickname for the staple meal at Bungoma High School – a mix of well cooked maize and beans. Back in 2017 when I joined the school, "njera" was a puzzle to me, but little did I know it would become a bond, weaving shared experiences and camaraderie among us. I must admit I liked it haha...
Leaving the structured life of a boarding school for the vast unknown was no walk in the park. It's been a little over a month and suddenly, I had to figure out time management, make decisions on my own, and face the challenges of a little more independent lifestyle. It was like going from a well-choreographed dance to freestyling, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure.

But hey, here's the silver lining – that boarding school grind turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The solid academic foundation? Check. The cultural exposure that broadened my horizons? Double check. And the friendships formed in those hallowed halls? These dudes are slowly becoming my go-to support system when life throw curveballs. I know each and every one of them (I think..😂)
Now, let's talk about personal growth and independence. Boarding school taught me to take charge, make decisions, and handle responsibilities on my own. It was like a crash course in adulting, and the resilience I built back then? Well, let's just say it came in handy more times than I can count.
So here I am, standing at the crossroads of life, armed with lessons from a Kenyan boarding school. The discipline, the friendships, the cultural smorgasbord – they all set the stage for this next chapter.
And as I step into the future, I can't help but feel grateful for the journey that started in those halls filled with memories and life lessons.
Lets see how it goes...
